Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Halfway (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

Description of Service

Halfway is a mobile application that helps users find fair meeting points between two locations based on travel time. The App calculates where travel times overlap and suggests venues in that zone.

User Accounts

Account Creation

  • You do not need to create an account to use Halfway
  • Your device is assigned an anonymous identifier for credit tracking
  • Purchase history is linked to your App Store account

Your Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the App only for lawful purposes
  • Not attempt to circumvent any usage limits or security measures
  • Not use the App to harass, harm, or infringe on others’ rights
  • Provide accurate location information when using the App

Credits and Purchases

Free Tier

  • New users receive 3 free searches
  • Credits are consumed when a valid search result is returned
  • No credit is deducted if locations are too far apart (no overlapping zones)
  • Weekend Pack ($4.99): Adds 20 searches to your account
  • Host Pass ($19.99): One-time purchase providing 40 searches per calendar month

Refunds

  • All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store
  • Refund requests should be directed to Apple according to their refund policy
  • We cannot directly process refunds for App Store purchases

Credit Policy

  • Credits from Weekend Packs never expire
  • Host Pass credits reset on the 1st of each calendar month
  • Unused Host Pass credits do not roll over

Intellectual Property

Our Content

All content in the App, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, images, and software, is the property of Halfway or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

User Content

When you share your location or use the App, you grant us a limited license to use that information solely for the purpose of providing the service.

Third-Party Services

Halfway integrates with third-party services including:

  • Mapbox: For mapping and routing
  • Google Places: For venue search
  • Apple App Store: For purchases

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and conditions.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

We do not warrant that:

  • The App will meet your specific requirements
  • The App will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
  • Search results or venue recommendations will be accurate or reliable
  • Any errors in the App will be corrected

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HALFWAY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Inaccurate location or venue information
  • Failed meetups or travel issues
  • Data loss or security breaches
  • Any decisions made based on App recommendations

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the past 12 months.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Halfway, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the App
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights

Modifications to Service

We reserve the right to:

  • Modify or discontinue the App at any time
  • Change pricing for purchases (existing purchases are not affected)
  • Update these Terms with reasonable notice

Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App:

  • For violation of these Terms
  • For suspected fraudulent or abusive behavior
  • At our sole discretion with or without cause

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Halfway operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
